About Us
LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS, AS TOLD BY EXPATS FROM THEIR OWN UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE.
Joseph Boccuzzi
Since this website was born out of my article about a provocative young woman artist who had only recently arrived to Tbilisi, myself and my production associate, agreed to focus on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. After all, he, like the young female artist have landed in Georgia to escape their native homeland of Iran.
I already enjoyed much freedom in the USA and came to be an Expat more out of a sense of adventure and unique opportunities found only in a developing nation. For me, it is more like stepping back into America’s past. Easier and more affordable to stake my claim here. However, the cost is high in other ways when you come to such a place.
For me, Georgia is part frontier era America’s 1800’s, where farm land and cities still need to be developed. Part America’s depression era 1930’s, with its high unemployment and a dire need for government organization. Part Mad Man era of America’s 1950’s, with a need for social reforms and equal rights for women, LGBT members, and other marginalized individuals.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, as told by Expats from their own unique perspective.
Of course the first is, in part, a line borrowed from the United States Declaration of Independence. The USA was born out of these principles, among others, back in 1776. In more recent times, The Republic of Georgia became free from the Soviet Union and continues to struggle for its Russian occupied territories to be returned.
Personal safety, personal rights, and personal choices in the land we land in will be a big focus of the content posted in this website. However, as we make a life here, we also enjoy the benefits that Georgia has to offer and we will share our people, places, and things to do because it is also impossible in the pursuit of happiness.
